Oswald the (Not So) Lucky Rabbit



 

How it was meant to be.



In case you don't know Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was Walt Disney's main cartoon character before mickey Mouse. Long story short due to legal technicalities had Universal, the distributor at the time, be able to keep Oswald without keeping Walt. So here we are today and Mickey Mouse is the star. In Epic Mickey Oswald dislikes hates Mickey very much from stealing the spotlight. Though they may be fictional I cannot help feel the same way. Mickey is a mouse and Oswald is a rabbit. Since when did people like mice? That does not make sense does it? Oswald conducted a trolley, Mickey a Steamboat. Is a train really inferior to a steamboat? Am I making that much sense, I don't know but my point being is that today take some time to think about Oswald, if it wasn't for him Mickey would not exist and it is sad he does not get any credit. Trapdoor Mickey

Did you know there is a trapdoor on top of Space Ship Earth. I'm not quite sure about the reason, maybe for maintenance but it was use in a Walt Disney World commercial:

Disney Movies: The Nightmare Before Christmas

In honor of Halloween, I thought I would make a recommendation to watch a great Disney Movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. The film follows the character Jack Skellington on his journey to take over Christmas. It features some of the best music in and Disney movie like the opening song:



The movie is available on DVD an Blu-Ray.

Better Late Then Never: Cars 2 on 3DS

Cars 2 Is coming to the Nintendo 3DS. It is somewhat odd it took so long but it is the same deal with the Captain America game. From the press release:

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue Review

Cover of a Great Game

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue was a pretty awesome video game. Available on the N64, PS1, and Sega Dreamcast, along with a Game Boy Color version. The game was plenty of fun. I'm reviewing the PlayStation version though the only difference from the N64 was that it had full motion video, a novelty at the time. I remember driving my self crazy with this game. Here is an example of the game play that made me scream at the TV from a walk through found on the wonderful world of YouTube:



To a little kid, and even a big kid going back and playing it, it can become quite difficult. I would always keep playing though because the game was so great. You played as Buzz Lightyear loosely following the events of Toy Story 2. The game mixed platforming, shooting with Buzz's Laser, and going on different types of fetch quests for all your Toy Story friends. The graphics were nice and colorful and captured the feeling of Toy Story really well. It also had great music like this:



I recommend you play this game, it can be bought on the PlayStation Network for a great $5.99.

Opinion of the Week: Whatever Happened to Pins at the Disney Store?

I used to go to the Disney Store all the time for one reason, pins. They used to have a lot of pins then it dwindled down to a few, now they have been gone for years. They are just throwing away money. They can't use the argument that "If you want pins go to Disney World" because we all know it is not that simple. Sure they sell vinylmations, but I don't collect those and the pins take up a lot less space so I do not see what the problem is.. I have no idea why they got rid of the pins in the first place but I think it is about time to bring theme back to the Disney Store!

Resort Spotlight: Disney's Pop Century Resort

Pop Century is in the Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sport Area but is also near Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It is considered a value resort along with the All-Star Resorts. The theme of this resort is the late 20th century with buildings and hotel rooms with 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s,and 90s themes. There are three pools: one is a computer pool, another one is The Hippy Dippy Pool, and the last one is a bowling pin pool.The gift shop and food court are combined into one section called Everything Pop. The resort is decorated with over the top landmarks such as a large pile of floppy discs among other things. Guests who stay at this resort get all the amenities of staying on Disney property including transportation, extra time in the parks, and transportion between the airport and your hotel. Disney's Pop Century Resort hotel is a great place for anyone who is on a budget to stay at Walt Disney World.

Disney Pins: Pin Bags

A great way to organize your Disney Pins is by using a pin bag. Pin bags allow you to store many pins in a small space. They are great for the trader going to a trading event because it allows you to carry around many pins to trade without multiple lanyards. If you are a pin collector like me It is a great way to store and view your pins. Disney Pin collecting and/or trading is a great hobby. If you do not own any pins go out and buy one, though it is hard to buy one and be done because they are highly addictive!

Disney Parks: The Secrets, Stories and Magic Behind the Scenes

I recently picked up a copy of Disney Parks: The Secrets, Stories and Magic Behind the Scenes. This is a six disc DVD set all about the Disney Parks, really only being Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and the Disney Cruise Line. The set is fifty dollars but you can find it for less on amazon or at Best Buy. For anyone like me who does not have the convenience of being able to go down at least once a year, this DVD set is a good way to get your Disney fix. Here is a list of what is on each disc:

Disc One: Walt Disney World Resort: Behind the Scenes

Disc Two: Disneyland Resort: Behind the Scenes

Disc Three: Ultimate Walt Disney World

Disc Four: Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disc Five: Disney Cruise Line

Each special can be seen on the Travel Channel but these are updated and extended with more recent announcement and attractions. It also includes 10 special features though they could have been longer and better due to a lot of already well known information, or at least well known to Disney Fans In total I would recommend this DVD set.
