15 Years of Nintendo 64


Today marks the 15th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 being released in the United States. You can read more after the break.

I had posted about the console earlier on my 64th post which you can read here. As you can see at the top of the blog, if you are reading it around posting time, I am celebrating it with a new banner. Originally called the Ultra 64, the Nintendo 64 is arguably one of the best consoles that popularized the console first person shooterperfected 3D platforming, made the modern adventure game, and introduced the first analog stick.The console also introduced Super Smash Bros. and that itself deserves an award.



The Nintendo 64 is also responsible for one of the most popular viral videos of all time:



So happy birthday N64. I will be exploring more of its legacy in the next few days.
