The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Review

Visit My New Site at http://nintendogamerthoughts.blogspot.com

For many years people have said that there is no such thing as perfect. I had believed that. I had thought nothing could come close to perfection since nothing can be perfect. Well, still nothing is perfect but The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword comes really close. To find out why read after the break:

Super Mario 3D Land Review

An outstanding game

The tanooki suit is both helpful and super cute.
"Super Mario 3D Land is not only the best game on the 3DS, but one of the best games ever.
Super Mario 3D Land follows the story everyone knows: Peach is kidnapped and Mario saves her. As always the characters and levels themselves are charming and Mario in his tanooki suit is just plain cute along with fantastic environments that provide fun platforming challenges..." Super Mario Galaxy 2 Review

With Super Mario 3D Land coming so soon, I thought this would be an ideal time to review the last 3D Mario game.

Mario's Picross Review

Mario's picross is the first in the series of fun puzzles on Nintendo's handheld systems. Picross is played by having numbers lined up on the x and y axis. Using the numbers you mark and remove squares from the grid using the information given to you by comparing numbers and using logic. It is a lot more fun then it sounds! While it is called Mario's picross Mario is mostly just in the top left corner of the screen reacting to mistakes you make. Also there are some different Mario themed puzzles like a  Goomba made out of the squares. The game is excellent packing a good amount of content with challenging puzzles. You can download it on the Nintendo eShop for only $3.99.

Kirby's Dreamland Review

Kirby's Dreamland on the Game Boy marks the first appearance of the lovable pink guy back in 1992. Except back then he was a white ghost looking creature due to the Game Boy's monochromatic screen. The game is short but it features a more difficult mode after your first play through. It is a sidescrolling platformer and features fun gameplay and great Kirby animations. This was the only Kirby game without Kirby's ability to copy enemies powers, which did not come until Kirby's Adventure which you can read about here. The game is availbe for only $3.99 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. I recommend you suck this one up and spit it back out(if you are not fimilar with Kirby that is one of the ways he attacks enemies) today!

Kirby Mass Attack Review

Kirby Mass Attack is a fun game that delivers on all levels. Essentially the plot is that Kirby has been split into 10 Kirbys and he goes on a quest to defeat the villain who did it and restore his body. The game is all controlled by the touch screen. Usually I am not excited by that but it works really well with this game. Occasionally it can be a problem when controlling 10 at once though. The game looks great. It is a 2D side scroller that has great backgrounds and character animations. It can be funny seeing all the Kirbys  toppling over each other or pummeling an enemy. The music is fantastic. You can read about that in a previous post here. The game offers a good challenge and the medals will keep you coming back for more. With the aforementioned medals you can unlock mini-games like a Kirby pinball game and a Kirby space shooter. Altogether Kirby Mass Attack is a great game and I recommend all DS and 3DS owners pick it up. The 3DS can play DS games so it really is just another great game to play on the system. So go buy it!

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

Spider-Man: Edge of the Time on the 3DS is a great games that showcases how far narrative experiences have come in games, and how the 3DS can have a great multi-platform game and not a watered-down experience. You can read my review after the break.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue Review

Visit My New Site at http://nintendogamerthoughts.blogspot.com

Cover of a Great Game

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue was a pretty awesome video game. Available on the N64, PS1, and Sega Dreamcast, along with a Game Boy Color version. The game was plenty of fun. I'm reviewing the PlayStation version though the only difference from the N64 was that it had full motion video, a novelty at the time. I remember driving my self crazy with this game. Here is an example of the game play that made me scream at the TV from a walk through found on the wonderful world of YouTube:

To a little kid, and even a big kid going back and playing it, it can become quite difficult. I would always keep playing though because the game was so great. You played as Buzz Lightyear loosely following the events of Toy Story 2. The game mixed platforming, shooting with Buzz's Laser, and going on different types of fetch quests for all your Toy Story friends. The graphics were nice and colorful and captured the feeling of Toy Story really well. It also had great music like this:

I recommend you play this game, it can be bought on the PlayStation Network for a great $5.99.

Kirby's Adventure Review

Kirby's Adventure was the second Kirby game released and the only one on the NES. Released in 1992 it is one of the best looking games on the system. It is the second game in the Kirby series with it following Kirby's Dreamland on the Game Boy.  It is the first game in the Kirby series to feature the pink guys distinct ability to copy his enemies abilities. The story of the game is that Kirby must restore dreams to Dreamland after King Dedede breaks the star rod into seven pieces. The game itself is great. The game play is the smooth like you would expect from current Kirby games. This game has some of the best music in any game, take the theme for example:

If anything makes this game better then his original Game Boy outing is the graphics. Seeing Kirby being pink for the first time was great and the Kirby games since then have always been visually appealing. In total I would recommend this game. It is available for 500 points on the Wii Shop

Qix Review

Qix (pronounced kicks) on the Game Boy is a simple game. That is not a bad thing though since it is also really fun. Read on after the break to read my thoughts on the game

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure Review

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure was a humorous game but for the the wrong reasons. Before I get to that lets talk about the game. It was onthe Playstation 2 and the Gameboy Advance. The game used the same gameplay engine as the Tony Hawk games at the time. Back when Tony Hawk games were good. The game play has some variety giving you the ability to pull off ridiculous tricks, like jumping of a lighthouse. The game is mostly fun but the blatand product placement reaches the point of being disgusting. One mission you have to help some guy get a ringtone for his Nokia phone. In another mission you have to deliver food for Mcdonalds. In the end the game it self is fun to play but you feel like you just played an advertisement.

Disney's Stitch: Experiment 626 Review

Stitch: Experiment 626 for the PlayStation 2 was an interesting game. The gameplay was okay, yet sometimes due to the camera it could become frustrating. The graphics where good but it did not really capture the style of Lilo and Stitch. The game was developed by High Voltage Software. They have made many licensed games like Dora the Explorer and a lot of other not so great games like that. But you may know them for developing the first person shooters The Conduit and The Conduit 2. Though at many times this game was somewhat enjoyable due to the fact that that it is still Stitch. The voice acting also added a nice touch to the game. There were many big environments in the game and it constantly changed from being extremely linear to more open, and in my opinion much more confusing. In the end if you can find this game for a good, very low, price I would recommend you pick it up.

Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour Review

Dreamcast Cover

The Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour (mouthful of a name) was a fun game and graphically impressive for its time. It was available on both Sony Playstation [ps1] and Sega Dreamcast. There was also a 2d handheld version for the Gameboy Color. though the game in many ways was just another Mario Kart rip off. it had its own special features that made it unique. the main reason being the tracks.
Game Boy Color version was not a looker
The player would race through various attractions to fix some fireworks machine. I could care less about the story in this game, today for me it is somewhat generic cookie cutter type story.

Tron Evolution PSP Review

Wow, I have not posted in a long time. Here I am and I have a review of Tron Evolution for the PlayStation Portable. If you are a major Tron fan like me stop reading this and go buy it right now. For the casual Tron fan read my review. Tron Evolution for the PSP takes place in the year 1989, seven years after the original Tron released in 1982. You compete in the Grid Games with different events from grid tanks to the ever so popular light cycle. The game will give you many events to compete in but that is basically it. I would recommend this game to any Tron fan or someone who wants a game they can easily get in and out of. This game is available on both UMD (Universal Media Disc) and as a download on the PlayStation Network.
